The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the platform, we don't sell your data to anyone, and we don't run third-party marketing trackers. The long version follows.
We never read DM contents. They're stored so you can see your own conversations. We may review message metadata patterns (frequency, recipient counts, timing) to detect abuse — mass solicitation, spam blasts, harassment of many members from one account. That review looks at patterns, never words. If we ban an account for abuse the operator can appeal by sending us a request — we'll share what pattern triggered the review.
Four processors, each with a scoped job:
No other third parties. No marketing pixels, no ad retargeting, no data brokers.
We use one cookie: a Supabase authentication cookie so you stay signed in. No analytics cookies, no marketing cookies, no cross-site tracking.
Your chef profile — display name, bio, gallery, timeline, events, family meals, endorsements — is public by design. That's the point of the platform: chefs get discovered. Foodie accounts have no public profile unless you create one. Business accounts have a name and verification badge that's visible to chefs you contact.
No minors. You must be 18+ to use FindLocalChefs. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we'll remove it.
All traffic to FindLocalChefs is HTTPS-only. Passwords are never stored (we use email one-time codes and OAuth). Our processors above handle data in accordance with industry practice. No system is unbreakable, but we treat your data like we'd want ours treated.

When we receive a valid legal request — a subpoena, court order, or lawful government demand under US law — we produce the specific user data requested. We do not proactively share data with law enforcement. Where legally permitted, we notify the affected user before producing.
Meet Records — two-party records of an agreed in-person meeting, when that feature is available — include physical time and place, so they are more sensitive than most user data. Meet Records will be preserved and produced under valid legal process for the applicable statute-of-limitations window; we cannot promise to shield this class of data.
The Event Station includes a private notebook where you can save contacts you’re planning with — vendors, venues, suppliers, and other FindLocalChefs members. Notes you save there are user-generated content, visible only to you. We do not surface them to the people they describe, do not feed them into search or recommendations, do not include them in analytics, and do not share them with other members. If you delete your account, your black book deletes with it.
If you save notes on another person, you are responsible for what you write. We recommend keeping notes factual and limited to what you need to plan the event.
